The partnership aids First Candle with its mission of safe sleep and SIDS prevention.
MAM, known for its award-winning, medically sound baby products is partnering with First Candle to sponsor the organization’s Straight Talk for Infant Safe Sleep program. The partnership will help expand the program by training community partners such as healthcare professionals, nurse practitioners and visiting nurses on the new Safe Sleep guidelines developed by The American Academy of Pediatrics.
The partnership makes perfect sense to Jennifer Mitchell, CEO MAM North America, who says MAM has long admired the work First Candle has done to educate parents and the healthcare and child care communities on the topic of safe sleep. “The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends pacifier use to promote safe sleep and as the market leader for pacifiers in the U.S. we saw a partnership with First Candle as a natural fit,” Mitchell says. “We hope to help increase awareness and prevention of SIDS by working with First Candle to promote practices for safe sleep/SIDS prevention.”
Launched in 2017, the Straight Talk for Infant Sleep program is designed to educate parents and change behaviors so babies are consistently sleeping in a safe environment. The program has been adapted from modules created by First Candle in collaboration with the National Action Partnership to Promote Safe Sleep for Maternal Child and Health Bureau and in partnership with the U.S. Breastfeeding Coalition.
As part of the partnership, MAM will sponsor a Straight Talk for Safe sleep webinar for nurses, aid with underwriting presentations at the Black Nurses Conference and host trainings and round-table forums for professionals in the field to discuss the latest work and opportunities. MAM will also help assist First Candle promote the message of safe sleep and SIDS prevention with social media support.
