The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s new consumer complaint database, www.saferproducts.gov, faced its first legal challenge last week when a company tried to block the CPSC from posting what the firm described as “baseless allegations” against its product. According to an article in The Washington Post, the lawsuit was filed Monday in a federal district court in Maryland and seeks to prevent the CPSC from making public an incident that allegedly harmed a child. In addition, the company is seeking to keep under sealed documents related to its identity, describing it only as “Company Doe,” a maker and seller of consumer products.
