Madonna has had an undeniable influence on fashion over the years, and now, via a new joint venture with Iconix Brand Group called MG Icon, the pop star has formed a direct-to-retail license agreement with Macy’s Inc. and will launch a Material Girl collection for juniors for back to school.
The fast fashion collection—which will include apparel, footwear, handbags and jewelry—was inspired by Madonna and her daughter Lourdes, who will both contribute to the designs developed with Iconix Brand Group designers. The initial collection will retail for $12 to $40 and will launch in August in approximately 200 Macy’s stores as well as on the retailer’s website.
“We believe that ‘Material Girl’ will be a dynamic exclusive brand for Macy’s, and we look forward to working with Madonna, Lourdes and the Iconix team,” said Macy’s chief merchandising officer Jeff Gennette. “Madonna is a fashion icon who can bring a new dimension to our juniors customer.”
MG Icon sees potential to grow the brand to encompass additional fashion and beauty products, and as part of the direct-to-retail agreement, Macy’s will have the opportunity to launch additional brands with MG Icon in the future. Visit www.macys.com.
