As the Licensing International Expo inches closer to its first edition in Las Vegas, Georgiann DeCenzo

, executive vice president of Advanstar Global Licensing Group, which manages the show, issued a statement assuring participants of the show’s health in light of the troubled economy.

DeCenzo said that while some exhibitors have reduced the scale of their booths, no major exhibitors have pulled out of the show, and currently the square-footage at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center is equivalent to that of the last New York show. Management is predicting that roughly 15 percent of the show floor will consist of exhibitors new to the trade show.

In addition, Advanstar is spending three times as much this year on efforts to drive attendance, focusing on 82 countries and developing targeted VIP programs. Show management is also meeting one-on-one with exhibitors to help them reduce their load-in costs.

The next Licensing International Expo will take place June 2-4. Visit www.licensingexpo.com.
