Joan Ulrich Joins Dallas Market Center

The new executive offers more than 20 years of experience in consumer and trade shows to the DMC.

Dallas Market Center has appointed Joan Ulrich as the company’s new executive vice president of leasing, bringing with her more than 20 years of experience in the trade and consumer show industries. Reporting to DMC President and CEO Cindy Morris, Ulrich is responsible for leasing strategy for the gift, home, lighting, holiday, floral and design areas of the 5 million-square-foot marketplace.

Ulrich got her start at giftware wholesaler Enesco before spending 14 years at Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., where she oversaw gift and home leasing in Chicago, New York City and Los Angeles. More recently, she launched UnCommon Markets, a monthly art and entertainment event based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Morris sees Ulrich’s keen understanding of the business along with innovation and leadership are a good fit for DMC. “As we extend our trajectory across gift, home, lighting, floral and holiday, and as we look for innovative ways to serve an eager community of buyers, I am confident she will deliver tremendous value for our customers, including adding new resources and enhancing the market experience for buyers and sellers,” Morris says.

Ulrich will be focusing on the rapidly changing retail and wholesale landscape, making it her mission to adapt the marketplace to anticipate trends, provide new resources and curate enticing products through permanent showrooms and temporary exhibitors.
