Rosie Arias had always gifted her friends with baby blankets to welcome their newest arrivals, but it wasn’t long before she became bored with the same old, same old she was seeing on the market. So she decided to put her 12 years of design and garment construction experience to good use and created her own. Meet Whimsical Charm, a line of plush baby blankets that launched in 2013. What sets it apart from competitors? Arias says the difference is in the details: Each American-made blanket’s oversized embroidery design, be it a teddy bear or a monkey, takes over 30,000 stitches and two hours to complete. “The process is very delicate but the end result is well worth it,” she says, adding, “It’s a wonderful feeling when you see a baby sitting on his blanket reaching for the embroidery design as if it’s an interactive toy. That really melts my heart.” Wholesaling from $17.50 to $54, the blankets currently come in six soft colorways, like ivory, pale pink and dusty blue. In 2015 the line will expand to include organic and bamboo fabric options. For more information, call (855) 477-5138 or e-mail sales@whimsical-charm.com.–Lyndsay McGregor
