Melissa Nash, the founder of Vancouver, Wash.-based Knuckleheads Clothing, has founded a new charity called Little Threads Foundation to provide clothing, shoes, blankets and plush products to children who are placed in foster care, helping to alleviate the financial burden for foster families.

Nash said the idea came to her after she received repeated requests from a friend and foster mother, who frequently greeted foster children who came to her with limited and tattered clothing. “I learned that when a child is pulled from their home, they are taken quickly because of harmful circumstances and they often come to their new foster homes with nothing,” Nash said. “I realized the importance of helping these foster parents get access to new clothing.”

Little Threads Foundation is soliciting new apparel, accessories and juvenile products from retailers and wholesalers that would go directly to the children or be auctioned off to raise funds. As with all charitable giving, your company may be entitled to tax deductions that equal or exceed your cost of goods. For more information, e-mail info@littlethreadsfoundation.com.
